Report E-Mail Scams

Normally we focus on scams that we fall for.  But in this blog post we will focus more on fighting back.  After all, the best defense is a great offense.  If you attack them at the heart, they will cease to exist.

With e-mail scams you will always be running a risk in opening any email that you do not recognize.  However, the easiest and safest way to do things is to report spam when you see it.  With most email services you need not open the email, all you need to do is click the report spam button and that is it.

With some emails scams, you do have one option.  Specifically bank email scams.  You can always forward them to the security email of the bank being spoofed.  You can also do the same with social networking spoof emails as well.  Almost all online businesses have a security department that is designed to handle these issues.

You can also forward suspect emails to the FBI, or other government agency, if the email claims to be from them.  Basically your goal is to report email scams, and protect yourself from future attacks.

Do not be scared to fight back.  It can be daunting, but being smart and using common sense will only get you so far, unless you use them properly.  If you notice your inbox getting flooded with sketchy emails, then do something about it and report them.
