Greeting Card Scam

Greeting Card Scam

The cards, which are also referred to as e-cards or postcards, are being sent via spam. Like many other Internet schemes, the greeting card (or e-card) scam uses social engineering tactics to entice the victim. The card claims to be from a family member or friend when in fact it isn’t. Although there have been variations in the spam message and attached malware, generally the principle is the same. The spam tells the recipient to click on the provided link. Once this is done the victim is redirected to a malicious website.

Unsolicited e-mails can be quite dangerous so be careful. It is highly recommended that you do not to open e-mails from unknown senders because they may contain malware or other types of viruses.
