Threat And Extortion Email Scams

The FBI has received information on threat and extortion schemes concerning spam emails. These emails threaten to assassinate the recipient unless they pay several thousand dollars to the sender.

The sender of the email claims to have been following the victim for some time and was hired by someone that the victim knows in order to carry out the deed. The person threatens to carry out the assassination if the victim goes to the police. They also request that the victim respond quickly and provide their telephone number.
